Taiwanese domestic screw market in uncertainty for 2019-The 20th China (Guangzhou)Int’l Fastener & Equipment Exhibition

Taiwan Industrial Fasteners Institute (TIFI) announced the export volume of screws from this January to November increased by 5% compared to the same period last year. The export to the US slightly increased, but those to Europe declined.
TIFI said the screw market next year remained unpredictable while there was uncertainly of the China-US trade war and sluggish market in Europe at present.
The US government was planning to levy 25% import duty for products from China including screws, but now this policy was hold with uncertainly.
Whether the order would shift from China to Taiwan remained uncertain. On the other hand, the sales of automobile continued reducing and the overall economy was in a slump in Europe. Hence, TIFI and domestic producers were holding a more conservative attitude towards the sales performance next year.
