According to the American lron and Steel Institute (AlSl), the week ending on December 20, 2025, US domesticraw steel production was 1.725 milion net tons while the capacity utilization rate was 76.3 percent.Production for the week ending on December 20, 2025, is down 1.6 percent from the previous week endingDecember 13, 2025, when production was 1.753 milion net tons and the rate of capacity utilization was 76.5percent.
Production was 1.665 milion net tons in the week ending December 20, 2024, while the capacity utilization was75.0 percent. The current week production represents a 3.6 percent increase from the same period in theprevious year.
Adjusted year-to-date production through December 20, 2025, was 87.606 milion net tons, at a capacityutilization rate of 76.8 percent. That is up 3.4 percent from the 84.733 milion net tons during the same periodlast year, when the capacity utilization rate was 75.4 percent.
